GOOD BUZZ ON… “Great Transfer Boards” Advertised as great transfer boards, Patti K. from Long Beach thinks they are the “greatest transfer boards.” “I have been a wheelchair user for fifty years and have been using transfer boards since I was sixteen years old and these boards from G & B Manufacturing are clearly the best I have ever used.” Patti tells us the transfer boards are made of 3/8” baltic birch plywood and are smooth on both sides. The best features are that they are light weight and very strong and she feels they have aided her in maintaining her independence. For more information call G & B Manufacturing at 970-669-5408. There is also good buzz on the “Closed Catheter” System for intermittent catheter users. These sterile, latex free catheters are easy to use and delivered right to your door. No need to wash and re-use catheters and risking infections. If this product is of interest to you, find out what the buzz is all about and call Summit Express Medical Supply at 1-888-269-6605. THE IMPOSSIBLY JOYFUL LIBRARY Imagine a library in which every single book deals with disabilities, illnesses and accidents, and yet is uplifting and empowering–even downright joyful. Sound nonsensical? Soon you will be able to visit the very real LICIL LIBRARY, a brand new, pleasant, reading room at the Long Island Center for Independent Living, Inc. Recently established, the LICIL LIBRARY’s shelves contain, if not everything on the subject of what it’s like to live with a disability, then certainly a very relevant archive that includes virtually all the information about the reality of having a physical, cognitive, sensory, psychiatric or other kind of disability. In a nutshell, THE LICIL LIBRARY sheds light on the reality of disabilities and thereby literally empowers readers to understand and improve–or help someone else understand and improve–life with a disability. You’ll be reading more about this remarkably sumptuous library over the coming months. Planning for a spring opening, you will be able to borrow books to take home, read in the library and even attend special group reading and discussion sessions. And yes, it’s free! You can also contribute books (or money) to the library so that its shelves can boast even more knowledge and pleasure. Coming Soon! |
