LICIL firmly believes in the value of community life and stands committed to preserving consumers’ ability to enjoy life in their homes for as long as possible.   The concept known as Aging in Place (AIP) supports precisely that goal through the creation of communities and support systems geared toward remaining in the home as opposed to entering a nursing or other similar facility.  LICIL provides a variety tools to seniors and persons with disabilities shaping their lives around AIP.  Information and referral to local resources, accessible transportation, and self-directed in-home attendant care through our Consumer Directed Personal Assistance (CDPAP) program represent just a snapshot of what is available.  We are also here to provide information on the national movement toward AIP and its growing prevalence in Nassau County.
